I share my birthday with Netaji Subash Chandra Bose

I was born in the same year India won the Cricket World cup for the first time. That was in 1983.

And I was born on the same day of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose. It gives immense happiness to me whenever I think about this point, that I share something in common with a great man like Netaji Bose.

And my father gave me the name 'Ashok' because he wanted to name his son after the great emperor 'Asoka'.

As I grew up before knowing about the emperor 'Asoka', my friends used to comment me after the then old Bollywood actor 'Ashok Kumar' and I used to feel sad about it. But it was childhood and such kind of silly emotions are a part of life.

After I learnt about emperor 'Ashoka' I started liking my name and feeling proud of this name. Not just this, even I find that 'Ashoka' is the name of the God found in the 'Vishnu Sahasranama' Hindu scripture and I became overwhelmingly happy after knowing this.

As my name suggests, 'Ashoka' is 'A + Soka' which means 'one who is free from sorrow' and fortunately enough I learnt very quickly in my life that the goal of the human being is to find the way of being happy despite the situations we face in our day to day lives.
